Our holidays are built around sociability – whether that’s walking together in Europe, painting together and taking in the best UK scenery, or booking into a Country House on a Freedom Break. It’s just one of the things that makes us unique.
Our holidays are about doing the things you enjoy, which in the evenings could mean sitting in the bar chatting with friends, discussing the day’s events over dinner, or joining in a team quiz.
Whether you come alone, with friends or with family, you can relax and unwind, and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere.
As well as the chance to share experiences during your chosen activity, breakfast and dinner offer a great opportunity to get to know fellow guests.
What can I expect in the UK?
As well as the facilities available at the UK Country House or partner hotels, if you’re on a Guided Walking holiday you will have the chance to join in social activities in the evening. Our leaders provide a different evening activity each day, which vary from week to week depending on the skills and interests of the leaders involved and also on the locality.
If you’re on a Freedom Break or Leisure Activities holiday which is alongside Guided Walking you will be able to join in if you like or when you’re not taking part in your holiday programme.
Sample programme of evening activities
Saturday (arrival day) – a mix of mini quizzes so you have chance to meet your leaders and other guests
Sunday – team music quiz
Monday – talk from a local speaker on the area’s geography and history
Tuesday – team games such as Pictionary
Wednesday – an evening of board games and card games
Thursday – a Yoga demonstration by an expert leader
Friday – gala dinner and party night - country dancing and your chance to do your party piece
What facilities are there at the UK Country Houses?
As well as a well-stocked bar, all Houses have comfortable public rooms, with a range of board games and books. Other facilities vary but some Houses have a swimming pool, table tennis, Nintendo Wii or outdoor play equipment for children.
What can I expect on overseas holidays?
