Themed tours based on full days out from superb Country House accommodation, with expert guides who will give you real insight into whatever you are into.

On our European heritage tours you can enjoy world-class sightseeing and a relaxed exploration of the countryside. Explorer Tours are about seeing the best of the local area including the unmissable sights as well as the quieter countryside. A knowledgeable HF Holidays' leader will accompany each tour. The tour will involve active sightseeing and most days will include optional gentle walks of up to 2 miles. All transport is included however admissions will cost £20-40 a week.

  • Rabat and Mdina: at Rabat you can visit St Agatha’s Catacombs then take a short walk to Rabat’s twin city of Mdina. Known as the ‘silent city’ its narrow streets lead towards the cathedral

  • Lucca: one of Italy's most perfect walled towns - the 16th century walls are still possible to circumnavigate completely on foot. Tintoretto's 'Last Supper' can be seen in the cathedral, and the house where Puccini was born can also be visited in the Via di Poggio
  • Florence: the Piazza della Signoria which sits at the heart of the city and is lined with famous statues, including Michelangelo’s ‘David’ is of course one of the most famous parts of this beautiful city, but equally impressive is the Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens and Duomo, Florence’s impressive cathedral

  • Hintertux Glacier: at the head of the Tux Valley two gondolas take you to the high glacier, which lies at an altitude of over 3,200 metres (10,500 feet). Skiing takes place all the year round, and the views are breathtaking
