On these holidays there is a choice of two walks forvarying abilities each day. For maximum choice we
offer two weekly itineraries; ideal if your wish to book a 4-night holiday or return for a second visit.
Holidays before the 5 July offer walks from both itineraries to suit lifts and snow conditions.
ITINERARY ONE
Weeks of: 12, 26 July; 9, 23 August 2008
Day 1: arrival day |

Day 2: ascend on the chairlift to Hochsölden to
explore the beautiful high meadows, with panoramic
views of the main valley far below.
Day 3: travel to Obergurgl, the highest village in Austria, to walk beneath the towering snow-capped
peaks and glaciers on the Italian border.
Day 4: head down the valley to Oetz for walks to the
attractive Piburgersee Lake or follow the dramatic
Knappenweg miners track beneath the summit of
Acherkogel.
Day 5: free day - relax in the futuristic aqua dome
thermal spa at Längenfeld or explore the other valley
villages.
Day 6: explore the head of the valley beyond the
village of Vent, either to a remote mountain hut or a
superb high traverse on the slopes of Wildspitze.
Day 7: follow the narrow gorge between Sölden and
Zwiesselstein or ascend to the summit of
Brunnenkogel which towers above the resort; a fitting
finale to the week.

ITINERARY TWO
Weeks of: 5, 19 July; 2, 16, 30 Aug
Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: discover the grandeur and rugged beauty of
the Oetz Valley by ascending the gondola onto the
slopes of Gaislachkogel for fabulous walks with
breathtaking views.
Day 3: visit the idyllically-located village of Vent,
complete with its traditional Tirolean church, to walk
in this unspoilt area of high peaks and glaciers.
Day 4: walk to the spectacular Stübenfall waterfall, a
huge single cascade of water, and the small village of
Niederthai, before descending through the trees to
Längenfeld.
Day 5: free day - perhaps experience the mighty
glaciers above Sölden; a truly awe-inspiring alpine
experience.
Day 6: follow the cascading river through the gorge
from Obergurgl to Zwiesselstein or enjoy a
magnificent high-level traverse above the Gurgler
Valley to the Soomsee and Nedersee lakes.
Day 7: take the chairlift high above Hochsölden to
sample the area’s high meadows, perhaps heading
for the rocky 3,016 metre summit of Schwarzkogel.
Day 8: departure day

Each year we listen carefully to the views of our guests and make improvements to our walking programmes. Further information will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection of walks will be made by your walking leaders. Local transport to and from walks
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday.
Please allow €60 (approx £42) per week for
transport during the week, excluding your free day. Payable
locally in Euros.

Making Your Own Travel Arrangements
Flights to Munich: There is a good variety of direct flights from the UK to Munich. If you are making your own arrangements you may want to consider one of the following options:
www.lufthansa.com flights from Birmingham, Heathrow & Mancester..
www.ba.com flights from Gatwick & Heathrow.
www.easyjet.com flights from Stansted & Edinburgh.
To transfer to Sölden, one option is to join the HF Holidays' transfer (supplement £24 single). Please contact our Reservations Dept to book your place and to find out the latest times.
Alternatively Munich Airport has its own railway station from where you should take a train to Ötztal station (probably requries changes at Munich Ost and Innsbruck). See www.bahn.de. There are regular buses from Ötztal station to Sölden, from where it is just a few minutes' walk to the hotel. Bus times are avialable at www.oebb.at.
