Need a few days away to recharge your batteries? Why not escape to the country and enjoy the perfect break for independent walkers and explorers. Our Country Houses offer walker-friendly facilities and a relaxing home-from-home environment. These accommodation only breaks give you the flexibility
to explore independently, add nights to a guided walking holiday, or accompany a friend or partner on ne of our more specialist holidays.

Prices start from just £139 per person for 2 nights

The friendly and sociable atmosphere of our Country Houses makes them ideal for a short break. Enjoy a glass of wine, relax with a book in the lounge or stroll around the peaceful gardens and you’ll soon feel at one with the world. Relax with a dip in our indoor swimming pools at Malhamdale, Brecon and Glen Coe or try our spa pools at Whitby and Glen Coe. With everything taken care of, and a full breakfast, a picnic lunch and an excellent evening meal included in the price, you can unwind and enjoy your stay at your own pace.

Self-Guided Walking
If you prefer walking independently, our Country Houses are located in some of Britain’s most beautiful national parks and scenic locations. Brilliant walks are on the doorstep, often leading you within a short distance to classic views. Our walking leaders will be happy to suggest routes that you may enjoy. There is often the option of joining one of our guided walks at a cost of £25 per person, which includes any coach journeys to and from the hotel (payable locally)*.

Especially designed with walkers in mind, you’ll find wellequipped boot and drying rooms, together with comfortable lounges to relax at the end of the day. Don’t forget our famous picnic lunches - help yourself from an unrivalled range of freshly made sandwiches, savoury items, homemade cake, fruit and snacks; enough to satisfy even the biggest appetites during your walk.

Explore
For those who prefer exploring Britain’s rich heritage, a Country House Escape is ideal for a sightseeing break. One of the best locations is Bourton-on-the-Water, a timeless Cotswold village, from where Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Regency Cheltenham are all within easy reach. Conwy in North Wales also has a wealth of sightseeing opportunities and is itself one of Britain’s best-preserved medieval walled towns. A stay here could include visits to Edward I’s castles at Caernarfon and Beaumaris, the renowned Bodnant Gardens, the Italianate village of Portmeirion and a ride on the narrow-gauge Ffestiniog Railway. If you want to follow in the footsteps of famous authors, why not seek out the Lake District’s connections with William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and Arthur Ransome, or visit the Brontë museum and parsonage at Haworth on a stay at Malhamdale.
