Set high in the mountains of the Bernese Oberland, whether walking or skiing, you will be surrounded at every moment by glorious views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers. Kandersteg is the perfect place to try cross-country skiing for the first time on the gently undulating routes lead directly from the hotel across meadows of the Kander Valley while walkers and skiers can enjoy the wonderfully sunny plateaux of Sunnbüel and the Oeschinen and the Gemmi Pass with its breathtaking panorama of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. For intermediate skiers there are plenty of opportunities to explore further afield. Follow panoramic trails up through beech and pine forest to the Höh viewpoint or enjoy a wide selection of routes along the Lötschental Valley.

The pretty village of Kandersteg is set on a high plateau
in the beautiful mountains of the Bernese Oberland,
at the head of a high valley up from Spiez on Lake Thun. Located
in a landscape of picture postcard chalets, snowy peaks
and glaciers, even the shortest of excursions from the village
presents wonderful scenery and glorious views. There
are up to 176km of prepared cross-country ski trails in Lötschental
and Kandersteg and 55km of prepared winter walks.
Kandersteg is a very pretty, well-established winter centre. There is a good
range of shops and facilities including banks, a post office, souvenir shops,
sport shops, bars and cafés. Extra facilities include a local museum, ice
skating rink, toboggan run and skittles. Further information about Kandersteg

Local Transport: We use a combination of trains, cable
cars and public buses to get around during the week. The cost
of local transport is not included in the price of your holiday;
please allow up to 75Sfr (approx. £35) per week in local
currency.
