Copenhagen is a fun and relaxed city and you can take time to enjoy its many cultural treasures. Sail its canals, stroll through its parks, sample the restaurants and chat with the Danes and you'll see why it is such a popular destination.

Detailed itinerary

This relaxed tour along the Danish coast takes you along cycle paths and quiet roads out of Copenhagen and into the countryside.

Day 1: Arrival in Copenhagen
All major sights are within walking distance of your hotel. Visit this beautiful city, shopping centre, museums and medieval port.

Day 2: Copenhagen to Helsingør
30 miles
Receive bikes at 09:30. Riding past the Royal Hunting ground, you will reach the coast from where you can just see Sweden in the distance. At Rungsted you can visit the home of the Danish author, Karen Blixen (Out of Africa). Your overnight stop is in Helsingør.

Day 3: Castle day
20 miles
Today you see Hamlet's castle in Kronborg, and the Queen's Summer palace. You can take your time today and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful countryside.

Day 4: From Hillerød to Hundested
35 miles
Through forest and fields to Ramløse and Lake Arresø. Take a break for a swim at one of the beaches and relax. You spend the night at Hundested.

Day 5: Hundested to Skuldelev
20 miles
Cycle through the idyllic fishing village of Lynæs to the ferry at Sølager where you cross the fjord to the other side. You continue through an oak tree forest to Skuldelev for the night.

Day 6: Skuldelev to Roskilde
32 miles
A chance to visit a restored manor house, and the open-air museum depicting daily life from the Iron Age through to the Vikings. Your destination, the former Danish Capital Roskilde, was inhabited by the Vikings and you can still see their ships today. The cathedral is the burial place of the Kings and Queens of Denmark.

Day 7: Roskilde to Copenhagen
29 miles
The path takes you through the picturesque villages which line the beaches south of the capital, away from the traffic and all the way into the centre. You have the evening to explore this beautiful city and visit the Tivoli Gardens.

You will stay in double or twin rooms in comfortable three-star hotel accommodation. Your luggage is transported to each overnight stop for you along the route, so you can relax and enjoy the cycling.

All accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast basis.
