This seven-night independent cycle tour takes you from Amsterdam to the green heart of Holland including visits to famous cultural towns such as Gouda, Delft, and The Hague. During May - tulip time - we include a visit to the famous flower exhibition 'Keukenhof'.

Detailed itinerary

This independent cycling and cruising tour makes excellent use of the cycle paths around Holland. You will also encounter some roads, although these are mostly quiet, and you have the option of staying on board the boat if you prefer not to cycle.

Day 1: Arrival in Amsterdam
Spend the afternoon cycling in the “waterland” region North of Amsterdam, along its colourful streets and delightful waterways. Alternatively, take a leisurely canal tour to discover this exciting city.

Day 2: From Amsterdam to Rotterdam
25 miles
Cruise to Nigtevecht and then cycle along the beautiful River Vecht and visit the ‘fairy castle’ of ‘De Haar’. Take the boat from Utrecht and finish the day in Rotterdam.

Day 3: Rotterdam to Gouda
25-38 miles
Visit Delft and the seaside resort of Scheveningen. Cycle or take the train back to Rotterdam (fare payable locally) and then cruise to Gouda.

Day 4: Gouda to Schoonhoven
19-32 miles
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kinderdijk, with its 19 windmills, and then continue to the 'silver city' of Schoonhoven.

Day 5: Schoonhoven to Haarlem
32 miles
Cycle to the witches weighing house today before reaching Utrecht. Sail to Haarlem and explore this vibrant city after dinner.

Day 6: Haarlem to Zaandam
22-32 miles
Take a circular route from Haarlem to the North Sea dunes and back, an area famous for its flower displays. Enjoy a dinner cruise to Zaandam.

Day 7: Zaandam to Amsterdam
19 miles
Today’s bike tour leads you through the impressive open-air museum village of Zaanse Schans’, before arriving back in Amsterdam in the afternoon.

Your accommodation and meals

For this cycling and cruising tour your accommodation is aboard a 'comfort class' vessel with twin cabins and private facilities, offering a little more space in which to relax. This wonderfully Dutch experience is a great way to discover the Netherlands while you meet and make friends with your fellow passengers.

All meals are included in the cost of this tour. Evening drinks are not included, but you can purchase these on board the barge.
