Detailed itinerary

This tour is ideal for families, taking you along the Danube on a purpose built cycle path. The terrain is flat, and you may encounter some roads coming into towns and villages. The tour incorporates two rest days.

Day 1: Arrival in Passau
The meeting point of three rivers. Check in at your hotel and explore this lovely city, before a satisfying dinner.

Day 2: Passau to Obermühl or Untermühl
13-19 miles
In the morning you collect your bicycles and then take a boat from Passau to Engelhartszell. From here your cycle route follows the 'Schlögener Schlinge', a famous bend in the Rhine, and you finish in either Obermühl or Untermühl for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Free day
You can explore the surrounding countryside by bike or enjoy some short walks in the area.

Day 4: Obermühl or Untermühl to Ottensheim or Feldkirchen
15-23 miles
Today you visit the charming town of Aschach. The tour then continues to Ottensheim or Feldkirchen for your overnight stay. There is plenty of time to stop and relax at one of the numerous lakes in the region.

Day 5: Ottensheim or Feldkirchen to Perg or Au
18 miles
You go by train to Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, and there is time to visit its historic city centre. On your way to Perg / Au you can also visit the picturesque abbey in St Florian, where you can see the famous Bruckner organ.

Day 6: Free day
Today you are able to choose from a wide range of activities: visit the excavation site in Mitterkirchen, cycle to Enns - the oldest town in Austria, or simply relax in the outdoor swimming pool in Perg.

Day 7: Perg or Au to Grein
19 miles
The last stage of your cycle tour takes you from Au to the small baroque town of Grein for your last overnight stay. There the oldest Rococco Theatre of Austria, as well as the lovely castle is worth a visit.

Day 8: End of tour after breakfast
Return by train to the airport.

Your accommodation and meals

You will stay in double or twin rooms in three-star hotel accommodation along the route. Your luggage is transported to each overnight stop for you, so you can relax and enjoy the cycling.

All accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast or Half Board basis.
