Independent Cycling Tour
This gentle five-night tour in the province of South Holland takes you to the charming and historic town of Delft, continues to Naaldwijk, renowned for its flower auction, and finally takes you to the small seaside town of Kijkduin.
Encompassing several different aspects of this lovely country "Holland in
a Nutshell" makes good use of the country's excellent cycle paths, making
it an ideal holiday for those new to cycling and for families.

This five-night tour takes you along paved cycle paths to each
of your overnight stays. The short distances each day ensure
you have plenty of time for sightseeing. |
Day 1: Arrival in Delft
Stay at the
friendly, family-run Hotel de
Vlaming, located in the heart of
the city. (Guests travelling by
ferry start and end tour in
Naaldwijk.)
Day 2: Delft to Naaldwijk
10 miles
Before you start
your cycle tour, stroll around
the lovely city of Delft and
take time to admire the 17th
century architecture of its
beautiful buildings. You can also
enjoy a canal cruise here. It’s a nice easy cycle ride
from here to the Hotel Carlton at Naaldwijk.
Day 3: Naaldwijk to Kijkduin
14 miles
After breakfast make sure you
take time to visit the famous flower auction close to the hotel. You then set
off cycling along the coast above the Hook of Holland. The route takes you
through duneland along the North Sea until you come to the seaside resort
of Kijkduin for your overnight stop at the excellent Hotel Atlantic.
Day 4: Kijkduin
A free day to spend time on the beach or cycle along the
coast to the fishing village of Scheveningen. You could also visit The
Hague, the Dutch seat of government and home to the Royal Family. There
are also many other attractions such as museums, art galleries, “Madurodam” - the exhibition of Holland in miniature, and antique
markets on Sundays and Thursdays. You spend a second night at the
Hotel Atlantic.
Day 5: Kijkduin to Delft
14 miles
Today you cycle through a nature
reserve and along countryside canals. You have time to take a break for a
drink or hire a boat en route to the historic town of Delft. You stay
overnight at the Hotel de Vlaming. Return your bicycles to the hire shop.
Day 6: End of tour after
breakfast
Time for some
last minute shopping in Delft
before you return home.

You will stay in double or twin rooms in comfortable hotel
accommodation along the route. Your luggage is transported
to each overnight stop for you, so you can relax and enjoy
the cycling.
Breakfast and dinner is provided at your hotel each day, except
in Delft where it is breakfast only.
Where dinner is not available (in Delft, and in Naaldwijk on Sunday evenings) guests will receive a reduction of £10 per person. [Back to the top]
