The IJssel Lake Family Tour
Guided Cycling and Cruising Tour

This tour has been specifically designed for families with children aged 7 - 11 in mind, with shorter days of cycling and days off to allow you to enjoy some other fun family activities. The tour takes you to the beautiful old town of Hoorn, the fortified town of Elburg and to the nature reserve of the Weeribben. You also visit an open-air museum along the way, and try your hand at canoeing, and have the opportunity to go to the Dolphinarium at Harderwijk, or relax on the side of a lake in the Hoge Veluwe national park.

This afternoon you sail across the IJssel lake to the lovely village of Hoorn.

Day 2: Hoorn to Lemmer
The boat sails along the coast of Lake IJssel to the port of Enkhuizen where you can visit the open-air Zuiderzee Museum. This afternoon the barge crosses the Lake to Lemmer.

Day 3: Lemmer to Blokzijl via Ossenzijl
The boat sails to the village of Ossenzijl on the edge of the Weerribben National Park. Enjoy a canoe trip this afternoon through the reedlands of this beautiful nature reserve.

You cycle to the 'Venice of the North' today, the village of Giethoorn. You can hire a punt from here, and explore some of the canal.

The boat sails to the old fortified port of Elburg. Cycle through the woodland of the Veluwe until you reach the lively Hanseatic town of Harderwijk.

Day 6: Free day in Harderwijk

Day 7: Harderwijk to Amsterdam
16 miles
The boat sails to Almere-Haven and from here you cycle to the port town of Muiden and back to Amsterdam. There is an optional guided walk this evening.
