sample local wines. This tour is based in a 4-star hotel,

This tour is based in one hotel, so you can
choose when and where you cycle each day from our
detailed itinerary, or by using the map we provide. Some
of the cycling trails in this area can be uneven, and there are
also some roads in the routes we suggest, but your day can
be as simple or challenging as you choose. |
Day 1: Arrival at Hotel Europafit in Heviz
Check into your hotel and take a leisurely
stroll around the town of Heviz, famed for its
thermal waters.
Day 2: Keszthely
12½ miles or 21 miles
Choose one of two routes to
Keszethely, Lake Balaton’s oldest settlement.
Visit the baroque mansion of the noble
Festetics family, explore the town’s 19th
century streets or discover the history of the
lake and the bathing culture at the Balaton Museum.
Day 3: Free day
Why not sample the hotel’s numerous spa treatments
and excellent facilities, take a boat trip to explore another part of the
lake, or go for a swim in the thermal lake.
Day 4: Felsógyenes lookout tower
29½ miles
Today’s cycle ride
rewards you with wonderful views over Keszethely Bay and the
surrounding area from the 3-storey wooden lookout tower at
Felsógyenes.
Day 5: Kehida Thermal spa
31 miles
Cycle via the historic town of
Zalaszentgrot, which is known for its castle and the oldest bridge in
Hungary, to the Kehida spa in the Zala valley. The spa’s water is
renowned for its high sulphur content and is said to be very good for
circulatory, respiratory and many other conditions.
Day 6: Free day
Try a wine tasting tour at the water’s edge, or take a
bus further afield to visit the 13th century castle in the picturesque town
of Sümeg (bus payable locally).
Day 7: Round trip via Szigliget
19 or 36 miles
Cycle or take a train
to Balatonmàriafürdõ and then enjoy a boat ride (May - Sept) across the
lake to Szigliget. Visit the hilltop castle ruins, narrow streets and traditional
peasant houses before cycling back to your hotel for a refreshing dip in
the pool (transport payable locally).
Day 8: End of tour after breakfast
