Quiet rural roads over flat terrain with some sections of rough ground. A follow-up van is available if there are any sections you would prefer not to cycle. |
Day 1: arrival in Budapest. Meet your tour guide at 18:00 for an introduction to the tour.
Day 2: transfer by bus to Doba Puszta. Follow the plains of the River Tisza through a nature reserve to Kunhegyes with its welcoming thermal and swimming pools (28 miles).
Day 3: after a guided tour of Kunhegyes cycle to Lake Tisza, the second largest lake in Hungary. Continue after lunch to Tiszaörs-Fürdö renowned for its thermal springs (29 miles).
Day 4: follow the shores of Lake Tisza through the Hortobágy National Park which echoes with birdsong. Enjoy a boat trip before ending the day with a swim in Máta (28 miles).
Day 5: take a horse-drawn carriage across the stunning Hortobágy plain with its horses, cattle, sheep and oxen. Travel via the Nine-holed Bridge towards Nádudvar, famous for its black pottery (30 miles).
Day 6: cycle to the largest open-air spa in Hajdúszoboszló. Continue to the old Hussar village of Hajdúszovát and then to the spa in the village of Kaba before returning to your hotel in Nádudvar (24 miles).
Day 7: return to Budapest by bus for some free time to explore this exciting city and a short Budapest city tour. The tour ends with a farewell dinner.
Day 8: departure day.

You will stay in comfortable hotels and guesthouses. Your luggage
is transported to each overnight stop for you along the route,
so you can relax and enjoy the cycling.
Your accommodation is Half Board. A picnic lunch for a supplement of €12 per day is available if you wish. This supplement is payable directly to your tour guide and they will accept Hungarian Forints, British pounds and US Dollars.
