Detailed itinerary

This popular guided tour takes you along quiet roads in rural Hungary. There is some rough terrain on sections of the route, but a follow up van is available if there is a section that you would prefer not to cycle, or if you wish to take a break from cycling.

Information meeting with your tour guide at 18:00. Dinner and overnight stay in Budapest.

Day 2: Doba Puszta to Kunhegyes

You begin by cycling through a beautiful conservation area and picturesque villages to Kunhegyes where you will be welcomed by your friendly hosts. Afterwards, you can take your first thermal bath, at 38C, 32C or 24C, depending on your preference.

Day 3: Kunhegyes to Tiszaörs-Fürdötelep

Day 4: Tiszaörs-Fürdötelep to Hortobágy-Máta

Today you experience the famous Puszta (Great Plain), an area filled with bird life and flora and where you will enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. Then cycle to the famous nine-holed Bridge on the border of the Hortobágy village. You continue on to goose farms and water wells to Nádudvar, known for its pottery.

Day 6: Nádudvar

"I had a wonderful time! The organisation was superb and the worries I had (would I be able to find the hotel in Budapest from the airport and was I too old at 75 to manage the distances) proved to be unnecessary. There was a certain magic in lying in a warm pool after a day’s cycling, looking at the stars and having paper cups of champagne handed down to you. Thank you very much for a splendid holiday I have only recently taken to riding my bike again but I am already looking forward to another."
Mrs Betty Hocking, Cornwall
