This lovely tour takes you through the olive groves and vineyards of this wonderfully rural part of Italy and allows you to discover some of its most beautiful hilltop towns. Lake Trasimeno and Assisi are just two of the highlights not to be missed.

This seven-night tour takes in the beautiful Umbrian
countryside, and the undulating route rewards you with
spectacular views. We do suggest detours to avoid the
longer climbs. |
Day 1: Arrival in Cortona
Arrive at Perugia airport and transfer to the
lovely town of Cortona.
Day 2: Cortona to Poggio delle Corti
28 miles
Cycle along Lake
Trasimeno this morning, known for its migrating birds and lovely
shoreside villages. Take a boat to Isola Maggiore before continuing your
ride to your guesthouse in Poggio delle Corti where you can swim in the
outdoor pool.
Day 3: Circular route from Poggio delle Corti
up to 31 miles
Enjoy
a short circular ride to Panicale and back and an optional cooking class
in the afternoon (payable locally) or you can make a longer loop to
Deruta, famous for its ceramics.
Day 4: Poggio delle Corti to Perugia
20 miles
Today’s ride takes you
to the Umbrian capital, the beautiful city of Perugia. You won’t be
disappointed by the fascinating Rocca Paoline (underground town), its
fine square and communal palace.
Day 5: Perugia to Assisi
22 miles
A gentle ride through the heart of
Umbria takes you first to Torgiano. Try some wine tasting and visit the
museum before continuing to Assisi.
Day 6: Free day in Assisi
Assisi deserves an entire day to stroll around
the town and the impressive Basilica of St Francis. You can also relax in
the hotel’s lovely swimming pool or take a short stroll to the peaceful
retreat of San Francis just above Assisi.
Day 7: Circular route to Spello
31 miles
This lovely ride among olive
groves will take you to Spello, one of the best preserved medieval towns
in Umbria.
