This holiday follows mainly cycle paths with some quiet roads and hills.
Day 1:
Arrive in Bregenz*.
Day 2:
Follow the lake through the Rhine Delta National Park to the Swiss Border at Rheineck. Continue to the charming lakeside town of Arbon with its timber-framed houses before heading to Güttingen (38 miles).
Day 3:
Leave Güttingen and cycle towards the Swiss border, spending the night in Stein am Rhein (24 miles).
Day 4:
Spend the day visiting der Rheinfall and Schaffhausen’s impressive 16th century fortress. Return to Stein am Rhein (31 miles).
Day 5:
Cycle to the town of Constance via Radolfzell and the island of Reichenau with its ancient abbey (28 miles).
Day 6:
Discover the island of Mainau en route to the cobbled town of Meersburg, continuing to Friedrichshafen for your overnight stay (33 miles).
Day 7:
Cycle to Lindau before continuing to Bregenz*, where you will be rewarded with beautiful views over the Swiss mountains and the lake (23 miles).
Day 8:
Departure day.
*Please note that during the Bregenz Festival (16 July-22 August) you may be accommodated outside Bregenz.
You will be provided with a 7-gear touring bicycle equipped with a pannier. 21-gear touring bicycles are also available on request. A list of bike changing stations are detailed in the 'Viva the Constance Lake Tour' information sheet which can be used in the case of a problem.
On arrival at your first hotel you will receive an information pack containing your route directions and maps, tourist information and hotel vouchers.
Your luggage will be transferred from hotel to hotel on this cycling holiday.
On this holiday trains can be used to reduce cycling distances if you choose (payable locally).
