Holiday reference: BLLCL

Print guided holiday itinerary information

Each day our experienced leader will lead you on a sightseeing walk of Berlin, exploring the different areas of the city. Although you should expect to spend most of the day sightseeing by foot, the underground, train and bus network will also be used during the programme.

Highlights of the sightseeing programme include:

Unter den Linden

This elegant boulevard runs from the Brandenburg Gate to the Schlossbrücke Bridge past imposing Embassy buildings and architecture reflecting the grandeur of Frederick the Great’s reign.

Gendarmenmarkt

Nestled just off Unter den Linden, this attractive square is framed by the French Cathedral, the German Cathedral and the Konzerthaus.

Alexanderplatz

Instantly recognisable by its 365m high Television Tower, this area combines historic buildings such as the Red City Hall with new developments.

Jewish Museum

This extensive museum covers two millennia of German-Jewish history and is housed in an impressive new building.

Stasi Museum

Located in the former Ministry for State Security headquarters, this museum displays an intriguing collection of spying equipment, Mielke’s old office and information about the former political system.

Reichstag

The seat of the German Bundestag, the government building is crowned by a glass dome designed by the architect Sir Norman Foster.

Admission fees

Admission fees are not included in the cost of the holiday. As a general guide, you should allow around €60, although reductions on admission costs are often available for students and senior citizens.

Local transport

Local travel expenses are not included.  Tickets are reasonably priced, and can be used on U-Bahn and S-Bahn trains, as well as buses and trams. The central location of our hotel means that many places we visit are within walking distance. The cost of travel can be up to €35 depending on the number of journeys taken, but group discounts for travel may be available.

In the evenings

This holiday is sold on a Bed and Breakfast basis. However, your leader will make arrangements at local restaurants should members of the group wish to eat together. You will find that most guests enjoy dining together but the choice is yours. If you do choose to dine independently, your leader will be happy to offer suggestions and advice.
