Dave will be leading this holiday on 8 October 2012
Dave first visited Berlin in 1988, a year before the fall of the Wall, and travelled into the East through Checkpoint Charlie. Fascinated by this city, he has returned regularly, often as a guide, but for other reasons – including running the Berlin Marathon! He has observed the many changes that have taken place since the city became one again. Dave is particularly interested in the city’s architecture. More generally, he is interested in how Berlin has attempted to come to terms with its past.
Dave is also leading the following holidays:
City Breaks – Krakow, 3 September 2012 and Barcelona, 23 December 2012

Dick will be leading this holiday on 11 June 2012
Dick first visited Berlin whilst studying at a German university in the 1960s. He has subsequently kept up a relationship with the city during the years of the Berlin Wall and later when the wall was demolished after reunification. He has always been fascinated by the cultural and artistic life of the city and by the city's historical role at the centre of German and European events. 2012 will be the third HF Holidays’ visit to the city which he has led.
Dorothea will be leading this holiday on 16 July 2012
Dorothea was brought up in Western Germany. At a very early stage in her life she learned about the construction of the Berlin Wall and the inhuman political system in Eastern Germany. As a young student she frequently visited West and East Berlin. She has seen the many changes in the capital of Germany since the reunification in 1989. Dorothea has always been interested in German history, especially the last century. One of Dorothea’s favoured pastimes is planning, organising and leading excursions and sightseeing tours for her teachers’ club. Dorothea has led City Breaks for HF Holidays in Copenhagen and Vienna.
