This is a centre-based holiday located in the town of Haltwhistle. Our accommodation is at The Centre of Britain Hotel which is Haltwhistle’s most historic building.

The oldest part of the hotel was a Border Reivers' Pele Tower, dating from the 15^th century. Later it became a manor house, excise office and a coaching inn. David and Grethe Taylor have lovingly restored the building to create a welcoming environment that is both modern and traditional.

The hotel manager Christine’s welcome, enthusiasm and knowledge of the local area will heighten your enjoyment of this holiday. The hotel organises a number of evening events for your stay. These often include a Roman Banquet, where a Roman soldier is invited along to talk to you about life in the Roman army, and a Roman themed menu is served for dinner.
