This route follows mainly quiet roads with some sections on busier roads. There are relatively few hilly sections on this tour.
Tours starting in Dijon
Day 1:
In the afternoon join your barge in Dijon, the capital of Burgundy.
Day 2:

Start the day with an introductory cycle ride around the northwest area of Dijon. In the afternoon, enjoy a short guided walk of the city.
Day 3:
(28 miles)
Sail through two locks on the Burgundy Canal, then cycle past the beautiful Citeaux Abbey founded in 1098. Continue to the village of Longecourt en Plaine.
Day 4:
(28 miles)
Cycle along quiet roads through forests and past small villages to the historical town of Auxonne. Later, follow the River Saône to St. Jean de Losne where it meets the Burgundy Canal.
Day 5:

Cycle to the attractive town of Beaune with its cobbled streets and abundant wine-tasting opportunities. Enjoy some free time to visit the collegiate church of Notre- Dame or the Museum of Wine. Continue to the small town of Verdun-sur-les-Doubs to rejoin your barge.
Day 6:

Follow the Canal du Centre to the port town of Chalon-sur-Saône. On this free afternoon, explore the old town, visit one of Chalon’s museums or relax with a glass of Côte Chalonnaise wine.
Day 7:

Cycle along an old railway track to Buxy where you will visit a winery. We then descend to the River Saône and continue to Tournus, a beautiful town, home to one of the oldest abbeys in France.
Day 8:
Departure day. Transfer by train to Dijon, arriving around midday.
Day 1:
Transfer by train from Dijon to Tournus where you will join your barge and enjoy a short introductory city walk.
Day 2:

In the morning enjoy a circular cycle ride to La Truchère, returning to the barge in Tournus from where you will cruise to Chalon-sur-Saône. On this free afternoon, explore the old town, visit one of Chalon’s museums or relax with a glass of Côte Chalonnaise wine.
Day 3:

Cycle in the direction of Buxy, stopping in Rully for a wine tasting session. Return to Chalon to rejoin your barge.
Day 4:
(34 miles)
Cycle to the attractive town of Beaune with its cobbled streets and abundant wine tasting opportunities. Explore the town before continuing to Seurre.
Day 5:
(34 miles)
Cycle to the beautiful Citeaux Abbey founded in 1098 before ending the day in St Jean de Losne, where the River Saône meets the Burgundy Canal.
Day 6:
(25 miles)
Pedal to the historical town of Auxonne, continuing along small roads through forests and past small villages to the village of Langecourt en Plaine.
Day 7:
(19 miles)
Follow the route of the Burgundy canal to Dijon, the capital of Burgundy. In the afternoon, enjoy a short guided walk of the city.
Day 8:
Departure day.
You will be provided with a 21-gear bicycle, pannier bag and lock. The guide will help in the event of a puncture.
