Easier Walks  Walk grade logo three Harder Walks

On good paths which can be rough and stony with some steeper and rougher routes.

Day 1: Arrival day

CXFor those arriving on the flights to Barcelona airport, the onward journey to Setcases is by coach. Depending on your arrival time you may have the opportunity to settle into your room, and perhaps see a little of the resort before the evening meal. On the first evening (or next morning if you arrive late) your leaders will explain more about the walks and there will be plenty of time to meet with your fellow guests.

Day 2: The Ter Valley

cxWe begin the week by exploring the hillside and the Ter River Valley below our hotel. Our walks take us through pastures and woodland, across open meadows and along river valleys on some well defined paths and some which are less well maintained.

Easier Walk: 6½ miles with up to 1,035 feet of ascent and 1,265 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 8¾ miles with up to 1,230 feet of ascent and descent

Day 3: Panoramic views above Camprodon

Icxn the morning the coach will take us down the Ter Valley to the old market town of Comprodon. The easier walk will have a chance to explore the town before following a similar route as the harder walk up to a spectacular viewpoint.  Both groups finish by walking over the 12th century bridge in Camprodon. The harder walk will travel up the parallel valley to Molló before starting their walk along the cross Pyrenean route the GR11 to Setcases.

Easier Walk: 6¼ miles with up to 1,395 feet of ascent and 1,430 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 9 miles with up to 2,500 feet of ascent and 2,295 feet of descent

Day 4: Above Molló

cxBack down to Camprodon before we head north to the border town of Molló.  There will be time to explore before the harder walk sets off along the GR11 back to Setcases.  The easier route allows time to saunter in the meadows seeking out fungi and the flora before returning to the village and the bus journey back.

Easier Walk: 6 miles with up to 1,540 feet of ascent and 1,540 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 7½ miles with up to  2,240 feet of ascent and 2,130 feet of descent

 Day 5: Free Day

CXEach week there is a free day where no guided walks are offered. This is an ideal opportunity to relax around the hotel, walk independently, or visit local places of interest.

  • Hotel la Coma
  • Day trip to Girona
  • El Santauri de la Mare de Déu de Núria travelling on the old cremallera rack railway from Ribes

Day 6: The High Catalonian Pyrenees

cxToday we travel to the ski centre, Vallter 2000. Both walks take us up onto the plateau offering fine views over the French Pyrenees and down the Ter Valley to Setcases. The easier walk returns to the ski station, whilst the harder walk continues along the ridge descending into Setcases.

Easier Walk: 6½ miles with up to 1,000 feet of ascent and descent

Harder Walk: 9½ miles with up to 1,345 feet of ascent and 3,900 feet of descent

Day 7: Villalonga to Llanars

CXToday we travel to the village of Villalonga where our walks start. Both the easier and harder groups will have the opportunity to visit the astonishing village of La Roca which seems to cling to the cliff face on which it is built, before finishing off in the village of Llanars.

Easier Walk: 7¼ miles with up to 1,560 feet of ascent and 1,820 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 11½ miles with up to 2,330 feet of ascent; 2,590 feet of descent

Please note that the itinerary outlined is provisional and could be subject to change. A finalised itinerary will be available at the resort and your leaders will talk about the next day’s walks every evening.
