Setcases

The small village of Setcases is situated at the head of the Ter Valley at an altitude of 1,279 metres. All around are the superb hills and mountains of the Pyrenees which we explore on our walks. There is one road along the valley which leads south to the village of Llanars and the market town of Camprodon. In the other direction the road ascends a series of hairpins and, after a few miles, ends at the Vallter 2000 ski resort, close to the border between Spain and France.

Setcases is a built in traditional style with many of the houses being renovated in recent years.

Local highlights

At the Hotel la Coma you could enjoy the range of facilities, including the outdoor swimming pool, petanque and table tennis, or try your hand on the putting green. The hotel also has an indoor heated pool, gymnasium, sauna and jacuzzi.

If you would like to explore further afield you could take a day trip to Girona, a beautiful medieval city. Countless invasions have shaped Girona into what it is today. The Romans were the first to put their cultural and architectural stamp on the city; many examples of their reign are still to be found in the city today. Other major influences are the Moors from the 8th century and the Jews from the 9th century. Highlights include the Cathedral which is reached by climbing a staircase of 90 steep steps in true 17th century baroque style. The Jewish quarter is a must with its labyrinth of narrow streets. There are also a number of museums that are worth visiting

Another option is to visit el Santauri de la Mare de Déu de Núria travelling on the old cremallera rack railway from Ribes.  The scenery is both dramatic and stunning.  Rest, refresh and either return by rail or partially on foot, before rejoining the transport back to Setcases

Shops & Facilities

Local services here are limited to just one small shop and a bar. During the week we will travel through Camprodon where you’ll find a much wider range of shops, banks and a post office.
