By train

For most guests, especially those travelling from the south, it is most convenient to head to Scarborough station. There are hourly trains to Scarborough from York – journey time 50 mins.  

You can also take a train all the way to Whitby station. Whitby is at the end of a long branch line from Middlesbrough and is currently only served by 4 trains per day.

By taxi or bus

The 20 mile journey from Scarborough station to Larpool Hall can be made by taxi or local bus. Taxis cost £25 per journey - less if shared. We will send you a taxi booking form prior to your holiday.

Local buses from Scarborough station to Whitby run every half an hour – see www.traveline.org.uk for timetables. As you approach Whitby alight by the Larpool Industrial Estate. From here it is a 800 metre walk to Larpool Hall.

From Whitby station we would recommend a taxi for the 1½ mile uphill journey to Larpool Hall. Taxis cost £5 per journey - less if shared. We will send you a taxi booking form prior to your holiday.

Alternatively there is a bus service from York railway station to Whitby, which runs every 2 hours.  The journey time is 2 hours 15 minutes.  For more information visit www.yorkbus.co.uk

By air

The nearest airports are at Durham Tees Valley, Newcastle, Leeds/Bradford and Manchester. If you arriving at London Heathrow or London Gatwick it is possible to reach Newfield Hall in a day. See www.nationalrail.co.uk for details of train connections.

If you are arriving at London Heathrow take the Underground to King’s Cross station, then a mainline train to Yorks. Change here for the connecting train to Scarborough, and then a taxi or bus to Larpool Hall. Journey time to Scarborough around 4¼ hours.

From Gatwick Airport take a Thameslink train to King’s Cross St Pancras station in central London. From here it is a 5 minute walk to London King’s Cross station. Take a train to York – change here for a connecting train to Scarborough, then a taxi or bus to Larpool Hall. Journey time around 4½ hours. 

Durham Tees Valley Airport is the nearest to Whitby but is only served by a limited range of flights. From the airport take the number 20 bus to the centre of Middlesbrough. From here you can reach Whitby on the number 93 bus. Journey time around 2½ hours. See www.traveline.org.uk for bus timetables.

If you are travelling from Leeds/Bradford Airport you should take one of the half-hourly buses to Leeds station. From here there are regular direct trains to Scarborough then a taxi or bus to Larpool Hall. Journey time to Scarborough around 2¾ hours.

Manchester Airport has its own station with direct trains to York. Change here for the connecting train to Scarborough, and then a taxi or bus to Larpool Hall. Journey time to Scarborough around 2¾ hours.
