St Ives has plenty to offer including two glorious sandy beaches. The harbour front is always bustling with activity, and there are numerous artists’ galleries to enjoy.
Opened in 1993, this branch of the Tate Gallery celebrates Cornwall’s rich artistic legacy. You may also wish to visit the Barbara Hepworth Gallery, the former studio of this celebrated sculptor.
Justifiably popular with visitors, the fascinating ‘Biomes’ of the Eden Project house a flamboyant collection of plants from around the world.
Reached by crossing the tidal causeway (or by boat at high tide), St Michael’s Mount is a prominent local landmark. Visit the stately castle on the summit and the attractive gardens.
Carved from the cliffs, the Minack Theatre offers outdoor performances in a most dramatic setting. An evening theatre visit is often offered to guests staying at Chy Morvah (May to September).
These restored gardens are fames for their displays of rhododendrons and camellias.
Situated at Gweek beside the Helford Estuary, the seal sanctuary cares for injured or abandoned seals, before returning them to the wild.
