Admire the views right along the Dalmatian Coast on walks to the neighbouring resorts of Brela and Makarska, and also from the balcony path that runs beneath the Biokovo Mountains to the botanical gardens at Kotišina. A highlight of the week is the boat journey to the beautiful island of Brač.

Easier Walks
Harder Walks
Easier Walks generally on good paths and tracks; Harder Walks can be steeper rougher terrain.
Day 1: Arrival day
For those arriving on the HF Holidays’ flights to Dubrovnik, the onward journey to Baška Voda is by coach, pausing briefly in Bosnia Herzegovina for a comfort and refreshment stop, before continuing northwest across the Neretva river delta and along the attractive coastal highway. A light buffet meal will be available on arrival at the hotel.
Day 2: Hillside Villages to Makarska
On the first morning after breakfast your leaders will explain more about the walks and there will be time to obtain food for your packed lunch. Our introductory walks use panoramic elevated paths in the foothills of the Biokovo Mountains. The views along the coast and across to the islands are superb throughout. Both walks will finish in Makarska, the largest resort in the area, which has a popular bustling harbour. There will be time to explore the town, or perhaps visit a harbourside café at the end of the day.
Easier Walk: 5½ miles with up to 1,000 feet of ascent and 1,900 feet of descent
Harder Walk: 8½ miles with up to 1,500 feet of ascent and 2,400 feet of descent
Day 3: The Island of Brač
Brač lies about 4 miles offshore, and is about the same size as the Isle of Wight. The island’s coastline has a series of attractive harbour villages, two of which will be visited on our walks. We travel to Brač by boat from Baška Voda harbour. We will arrive at Sumartin harbour and from here walk to a secluded cove and through olive groves to the equally attractive harbour at Povlja, where our boat will be waiting for the return trip.
Easier Walk: 6½ miles with up to 455 feet of ascent and descent
Harder Walk: 9 miles with up to 520 feet of ascent and descent
Day 4: The foothills of the Biokovo Mountains
Walks will start at the village of Makar, which sits on the hillside not far from Makarska, commanding superb views of the coast below. An option will take minor paths and tracks across the hillside visiting old churches, small villages and the botanical gardens before descending to the resort of Tučepi. Another course will take a spectacular high level route on the flanks of the Biokovo Mountains before joining the easier route towards Tučepi.
Easier Walk: 6 miles with up to 520 feet of ascent and 1,230 feet of descent
Harder Walk: 7½ miles 2,250 feet of ascent and 2,100 feet of descent
Day 5: Free day
Each week there is a free day when no guided walks are offered. This is an ideal opportunity to relax around the hotel, walk independently, or visit local places of interest.
Day 6: Cetina Gorge
The Cetina Gorge is an impressive natural feature that has been carved through the limestone of the Biokovo Mountains. We start inland at the village of Kostanje, behind the coastal mountain range. From here we take good paths through villages and fields to emerge high above the gorge. We descend to the river and take small boats to the town of Omiš from where we take our transport back to the hotel.
Easier Walk: 6 miles with up to 1,050 feet of ascent and descent
Harder Walk: 10 miles with up to 1,885 feet of ascent and descent
Day 7: Villages and coast around Baška Voda
Today our walks start and finish at the hotel. We again head into the foothills of the Biokovo Mountains which rise above the village. We explore the mainly abandoned Dalmatian village of Topici before continuing northwest parallel to the coast. The harder group will ascend to a high mountain col and both groups will descend to the coast at the neighbouring resort of Brela. We will then follow the coastline on a promenade through small beach resorts with the opportunity to pause for a drink or swim on our way back to Baška Voda.
Easier Walk: 6½ miles with up t o 750 feet of ascent and 1,400 feet of descent
Harder Walk: 7 miles with up to 885 feet of ascent and 1,540 feet of descent
