The small town of Bovey Tracey is about 3 miles away and has a selection of shops, a bank, and pubs. A much wider range of facilities is available about 10 miles away in the larger town of Newton Abbott.

High Moorlands Visitors Centre

Buckfast Abbey

Buckfast Abbey near Buckfastleigh is an active Benedictine Monastery. Destroyed by Henry VIII, it was rebuilt between 1882 and the 1930s.

Exeter

The cathedral city of Exeter is around 30 minutes’ drive from Moorlands.

Cothele House

Now managed by the National Trust, Cothele House is a fine Medieval manor house, located above the Tamar Valley.

Greenway Estate

Formerly the home of the late crime writer Agatha Christie, the Greenway Estate has stunning views across the River Dart. The house and gardens are now owned by the National Trust.

Dart River Cruise

Cruise down the River Dart from Totnes to the maritime town of Dartmouth.

South Devon Railway

Ride the steam railway, a loving restoration of a Great Western branch line, from Buckfastleigh to Totnes.
