Day 1: Arrival day.
Your room will be available from 2.30pm onwards. Please join us for tea between 4pm and 5pm to meet the leader and your fellow guests.
Before dinner there will be a brief introduction to the holiday programme.
Day 2: Coastal habitats. Crossing the Hayle Estuary we visit Portreath to explore life on the rocky shore, looking in rock pools and seeing a variety of seaweed. 1½ miles. Next we visit Upton Towans, a sand dune complex on the site of a former explosive works, looking for orchids and other sand dune plants and butterflies. 3 miles.
Day 3: Loe Bar and Pool. From Porthleven we walk the coastal path to Loe Bar to see life on an exposed shingle shore, then turning inland along Loe Pool, for freshwater habitats, walking along the Loe Valley into the outskirts of Helston. 4½ miles.
Day 4: Inland to Gwennap Pit. From Redruth we walk to Gwennap, where John Wesley preached in a pit to thousands of tin miners. Fields and hedgerows along the way show all kinds of wildflowers and butterflies. We return over Carn Marth, an easy summit with disused granite quarries nearby. 4 miles.
Day 5: A free day for you to relax or explore the local area.
Day 6: The Lizard. We walk across the maritime heath of the Lizard National Nature Reserve to visit Kynance Cove. Following the coastal path we pass the nesting sites of the Cornish choughs on our way to the lighthouse. Sea-watching, wildflowers and unusual serpentine rocks make the Lizard special. 5 miles.
Day 7: Pendeen, Levant, and Geevor. We walk in a circuit on the granite coast near Land’s End where the National Trust has made various mine sites safe. This includes the famous Crowns at Botallack. Sea-watching, maritime heathland. 5 miles.
Day 8: Depart after breakfast.

Day 2: We will go for a local walk close to Holnicote House to discover the local wildlife around Selworthy.
Day 3: We will explore moorland and woodland habitats in the local Exmoor area around Dunkery and Horner Wood National Nature reserve and also visit nearby coastal habitats in the Porlock/Selworthy area. This is a chance to look for a wide range of wildlife associated with moorland, woodland and the coast.
Day 4: We will head towards and explore the Taw - Torridge estuary. Here we will see a wide range of wildlife associated with estuaries, marshes and sand dunes.
Day 5: We will explore a range of habitats along the coast of Exmoor between Porlock Bay and Combe Martin and the chance to check out some rock pools at the latter. We’ll find a wide range of wildlife associated with various habitats – and have the chance to see some rock pool wildlife.
Day 6: We will head towards Bridgewater Bay and also explore the coast en route including the Quantocks.
Day 7: Depart after breakfast.
