Sarlat

The old town is about thirty minutes’ walk from the hotel and consists almost entirely of medieval buildings, many of which are of particular historical and architectural interest. This part of Sarlat was once protected by a surrounding wall. Although this has largely disappeared, a few surviving towers and ramparts indicate where it used to run. The Cathedral, dedicated to St Sacerdos, lies at the heart of the old town and is well worth a visit. There are a number of pleasant cafés and interesting shops, and the town is safe and well-lit at night, making an evening stroll an attractive option. Your leader can organise a taxi home if you prefer not to walk.

Shops & Facilities

Sarlat is a good-sized town and you will find a good range of shops and facilities. Supermarkets, bakeries and banks can all be found within walking distance of the hotel. The majority of shops lie on the ‘Rue de la Rebublique’, the long straight street that runs through the heart of the town. The tourist office in the old town is particularly helpful and has free maps and information.
