In the Footsteps of Lady Anne Clifford

The life of Lady Anne Clifford (1590-1676) spanned the reigns of Elizabeth I to Charles II. She spent time in the courts of Elizabeth I and James I as a child and married first Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset and then Philip Herbert, Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery. She dedicated her life to fighting for her right to the Clifford Estates, from Yorkshire through to Westmorland, and when she had succeeded, embarked on huge restoration projects. In this holiday we will visit key sites connected with her life.
