Freedom Break at Isle of Arran

Altachorvie has 34 bedrooms, some located in the main building and others in garden chalets. Most of the rooms in the main house and chalets enjoy views across Lamlash Bay to Holy Isle.

Standard en-suite rooms            

Our standard rooms in the main house offer comfortable accommodation and an en-suite bathroom.

All standard rooms have:

Premium rooms

Premium rooms are available at just £5 extra per person per night.  

All premium rooms have:

Chalet rooms also have en-suite bathroom with WC and shower. 

Single rooms

Single rooms are available for an extra £8 per night. 

Family rooms

If you are travelling with your family, there are two family rooms.

All family rooms have:

• Full-sized twin or double beds for adults

• Tea and coffee making facilities
• TV
• Hairdryer

All our Country Houses are tailored to walkers and outdoor enthusiasts and have excellent boot and drying rooms, laundry facilities and a mini-shop for essentials such as maps, postcards and toiletries.

Altachorvie has a comfortable lounge and conservatory with views across the bay. There is also an elegant dining room and cosy bar with a panoramic bay window.

The multi-purpose ballroom can either be used as a games room with table tennis, for dancing, or as a painting studio.

Free internet access offered on a dedicated PC and Wifi is available in some public rooms.  There is also a range of board games and books. 

There are extensive views from the front of the house across Lamlash Bay to Holy Isle. The lawns offer putting, badminton and croquet. Red squirrels feed and play in the gardens.

All holidays at our Country Houses are Full Board with breakfast, picnic lunch and evening meal included.

Dinner                 

The relaxed dinner is a highlight of any stay at our Country Houses - with tables seating up to 10 and no seating plan, it offers a great opportunity to get to know fellow guests.  There is always a choice of dishes for every course, featuring good British cooking and often local specialities. Vegetarian meals are always available.

Drinks  

All our Country Houses have a well-stocked bar serving beer, wine and spirits.

Guided Walking

Enjoy a glass of wine or local beer in the bar before hearing about the next day's walks. After dinner there will be an activity or entertainment which you will be welcome to join. These vary from week to week but could include a night at a local amateur theatre during summer, a talk from a Ranger from nearby National Trust property, Brodick Castle, or a team quiz. Alternatively if you prefer, feel free to just relax in our lounge or bar.

During the summer months there may be a barbeque on one evening, where you can enjoy the beautiful views and the company of fellow guests.

Family holidays

On our Guided Walking for Families the evening activities will be geared towards children of all ages. 

Leisure Activities

Many of our Leisure Activities holidays continue into the evening with programmed sessions.  Other holidays will have the evenings free, and you will be welcome to join in other social activities that may be happening in the house.

Freedom Breaks

There may be evening social activities happening in the house during your holiday, and you will be most welcome to join in.  However, not all Freedom Breaks will have evening activities available – if these are important to you, please check before booking.

Guided trails

Depending on your travel dates, there may be activities on offer in the house in the evening which you are welcome to take part in.
