Freedom Break at Sedbergh

Holiday reference: SDPOA

Print this page

Freedom Breaks offer a flexible way to enjoy some of Britain's most scenic areas.

The small town of Sedbergh (the new book capital of England), now part of Cumbria, was once part of North Yorkshire and lies in the north-west corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sedbergh is ideally located to enjoy the mellow valleys of the Dales and the untamed Cumbrian and North Pennine fells.

Highlights of your stay could include:

  • Walks in the Yorkshire Dales - perhaps a gentle stroll along Dentdale or a more challenging walk on the unspoilt Howgill Fells
  • Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre offering the latest film releases, theatre, music, comedy, dance and literature events plus free art exhibitions
  • The Lake District, Britain’s most scenic National Park is also within easy reach
  • A journey on the Settle & Carlisle Railway: 72 miles with 20 major viaducts, 14 tunnels and spectacular views throughout
  • White Scar, a spectacular natural cave with underground streams and waterfalls, thousands of stalactites, and the massive 200,000-year-old Battlefield Cavern

Great value.  What’s included:

  • Full board accommodation
  • All the Country House facilities
  • Freedom Break Guide – full of information about local attractions, activities and suggested itineraries to help plan your holiday
  • A free Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 scale Explorer map of the local area for every booking
  • Use of the Freedom Breaks Knowledge Box – a unique resource with maps, guidebooks, routes, and everything you need to make the most of your Freedom Break

The Freedom Break guide covers:

  • Suggestions for local walks and cycle rides.  More detailed directions await you at the Country House.  Also a discount on hundreds more routes from walkingworld.com
  • Comprehensive list of visitor attractions such as country houses, gardens, museums & galleries
  • Ideas and contacts for more active options such as kayaking, climbing and mountain biking
  • Information about riding and trekking centres, and golf courses
  • Details of local facilities such as swimming pools and sports centres
