On the edge of the Dales market town of Sedbergh, Thorns Hall can trace its origins to the 16th century.  The Howgill Fells rise steeply to the back of the town, and the deep dales that characterise the region are much less busy than their more southerly counterparts.  Just a short journey from the famous Three Peaks of Yorkshire, the magnificent Settle-to-Carlisle Railway trundles by the head of the valley and even the Lake District is less than an hour's drive away.

Nearby attractions and great days out:

  • National Trust Sizergh Castle (15 miles)
  • Kendal Museum (11 miles)
  • White Scar Cave (19 miles)
  • Abbot Hall Art Gallery (12 miles)
  • Hawes - home of Wensleydale cheese (16 miles)
  • Kirkby Lonsdale (12 miles)
