Mountain under blue skyDay 1: Arrival day - Reach Skye via the bridge or by a scenic ferry journey from Mallaig.

Day 2: Loch Coruisk Circular - Sample stunning Loch Coruisk, surrounded by the mighty Cuillin mountains. Our route traverses the loch’s shore. 4½ miles with 400 feet of ascent.

Old croftDay 3: Dun Caan, Isle of Raasay - A short ferry crossing to the Isle of Raasay where 360° panoramas from volcanic summits stretch to the mountains of Torridon and the towering Cuillin peaks. The distinctive summit of Dun Caan is Raasay’s highest point. 8½ miles with 1,450 feet of ascent.

Day 4: The Quiraing  - Our final walk on Skye is amidst the eerie pinnacles of the Quiraing. This supernatural style landscape makes for a classic circuit amidst the geological giants of “The Needle”, “The Table” and “The Prison”. The afternoon ferry takes us across to North Uist. 3¾ miles with 660 feet of ascent.

Boat on lochDay 5: Loch Druidibeg - Today’s trail explores the crofting communities of South Uist and the nature reserve of Loch Druidibeg, home to golden eagles, lapwings, red deer, otters, seals, and greylag geese. Our walk takes us along a trail of Hebridean heritage; traditional thatched “black-houses”, ruined medieval chapels, windswept machair and a lochan-studded landscape. 5¼ miles with 460 feet of ascent, plus a choice or either 5 or 6 miles both with negligible ascent.

Day 6: Vatersay - Island hopping once more, to Eriskay, and on to Barra, recently voted ‘Britain’s most beautiful isle’. From here we visit the most southern of the inhabited Western Isles, for a walk on the tiny island of Vatersay. 4½ miles with 260 feet of ascent.

Mountain ridgeDay 7: Heaval & Eoligarry - An ascent of Barra’s mini-Matterhorn, Heaval, rewards us with spectacular, far-reaching views before we head for a much more leisurely amble on the north of the island. Our circuit takes in the expanse of white cockle shell beaches, Barra’s tiny airport, and the island’s most ecclesiastical site. Heaval - 4 miles with 1,300 feet of ascent and Eoligarry - 6 miles with 650 feet of ascent.

Day 8: Departure day - Enjoy a scenic ferry journey to Oban for your journey home.
