This holiday follows Holland’s excellent cycle paths with some sections on roads.
Day 1: Arrival in Amsterdam. Join the barge from 14:00 and spend the afternoon exploring the city’s sights. A wealth of opportunities await you here. Why not check out the Van Gogh museum or pay a visit to one of Amsterdams many fashionable botiques.
Day 2: Sail to Breukelen and cycle along the River Vecht to Utrecht, one of Holland’s oldest cities. Rejoin the barge to sail to Rotterdam where there is the option of an evening guided walk (22 miles).
Day 3: Cycle through the Delftland to Delft with its picturesque streets and canal network. Visit a Delftware porcelain factory then cycle back to Rotterdam for an enjoyable evening cruise to Gouda (25 miles).
Day 4: Sail to Kinderdijk and visit the Unesco World Heritage Site with its famous 19 windmills. Continue by bike to the silver city of Schoonhoven (19 or 32 miles).
Day 5: In the morning cycle to the Witches’ Weigh House in Oudewater en route to Utrecht. In the afternoon continue by boat to Beverwijk (32 miles).
Day 6: Enjoy a circular route to Haarlem through the dunes and along the North Sea coast. In the evening sail to Zaandam with the option of a guided city walking tour (22 or 41 miles).
Day 7: Cycle to the outstanding ‘Zaanse Schans’ museum with its traditional houses, windmills and workshops before continuing to your final destination, Amsterdam (19 miles).
Day 8: Departure after breakfast.
You will be provided with a 7-gear bicycle, pannier bag and lock.
