Towards the end of the 18^th century Britain embarked on a period of industrial growth unparalleled in the field of human history, an era that became known as the Industrial Revolution. From our base in the Peak District, we’ll explore Leek, Stoke on Trent, Cromford and Crich – places associated with the major industries and smaller enterprises which stemmed from this era and which have left a rich and fascinating industrial heritage.

We’ll look at the social implications as well as the transport networks of the time. Our expert leader will enhance the day excursions into Cheshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire with illustrated evening talks.
