Kenya

A selection of colonial style African country lodges with luxurious tented safari camps, all with en-suite facilities. The hotels are an integral feature of this holiday.

Sangare Tented Camp bedroom and chairsIn Nairobi we stay 1 night at the Nairobi Safari Club hotel. This is a modern city centre hotel with a range of facilities; and ideal for a short stopover.

Travelling into central Kenya, our next 2 nights are spent at the luxurious Sangare Tented Camp. Large tents, bigger than many hotel rooms, feature rustic African furnishings, full en-suite bathrooms and are set around the Sangare Lake. Each tent has a lounge and verandah opening out onto the lake for a perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon or to see sunrise over the lake. There is also a large lounge and dining area with terrace serving excellent homemade food.

Our next night is at The Ark in the Aberdare Mountains. The buildings of this hotel have been imaginitively designed to resemble Noah's Ark with rooms and decks at different levels. This is a special location with excellent opportunities for viewing the local wildlife.

Sunbird Lodge bedroom

At Lake Elementaita we stay for 2 nights at Sunbird Lodge, where accommodation is in individual thatched cottages with large verandas overlooking the lake. There is a lovely restaurant and bar in a traditional African theme and the lodge is a great place to relax and lookout for birds and animals down by the lake.

 Sawela Lodge

At Lake Naivasha we stay at Sawela Lodge for 3 nights. Here a selection of charming two storey lodges are clustered around the swimming pool, surrounded by acacia trees. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, making this a pleasant spot to relax after the day's activities.

Mara Leisure Camp bedroomIn the Masai Mara you'll stay at the Mara Leisure Camp for 3 nights. The camp is located along the Talek River in the north of the Mara reserve. Spacious tents (with en-suite facilities including bath tubs) are arranged along the river overlooking the plains. The cuisine provided is plentiful and excellent and the camp operates a range of activities in order to see the truly wonderful wildlife in this region.
