This holiday follows cycle paths.
Day 1: Arrive in Bregenz*.
Day 2: Ride along the southern shore of the lake through ‘Rheinspitz’ nature reserve and on through Switzerland to Arbon. (24 miles)
Day 3: Cycle via Romanshorn and Kreuzlingen to the charming town of Constance where you will spend two nights. (20 miles)
Day 4: Cycle to the atmospheric town of Stein am Rhein, one of Germany’s most captivating towns before transferring back to Constance by train. (20 miles)
Day 5: Enjoy a leisurely cycle to the island of Mainau where you will explore the flower gardens. Take the ferry from Wallhausen to Überlingen where you will spend the night. (12½ miles)
Day 6: Cycle along the German side of the lake to Uhldingen, known for its reconstructions of Stone and Bronze Age lakeside dwellings. Continue past Meersburg and Immenstaad to the town of Friedrichshafen. (20 miles)
Day 7: Pedal through the romantic village of Wasserburg to the ‘island city’ of Lindau. Follow the lake to the Austrian town of Bregenz* for your final night. (23 miles)
Day 8: Departure day.
*Please note that during the Bregenz Festival (16 July-22 August) you may be accommodated outside Bregenz.
You will be provided with a 7-gear touring bicycle equipped with a pannier. 21 gear touring bicycles are also available on request. A list of bike changing stations are detailed in the 'Viva the Constance Lake Tour' information sheet which can be used in the case of a problem.
On arrival at your first hotel you will receive an information pack containing your route directions and maps, tourist information and hotel vouchers.
Your luggage will be transferred from hotel to hotel on this cycling holiday.
On this holiday trains can be used to reduce cycling distances if you choose (payable locally).
