By car

The Peveril of the Peak is around 1 hour from either junction 24A of the M1 at Derby or junctions 15 or 19 of the M6. A large car park is available in the grounds with ample free parking. If you are using a sat-nav, the postcode for the Peveril of the Peak is DE6 2AW.

By train

From the south and east it is easiest to travel to Derby station. This is on the Midland main line between London and Sheffield and is also served by direct trains from Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Edinburgh.

From the northwest it is quicker to travel to Buxton station – this is at the end of a branch line from Manchester. For train times and ticket prices see www.nationalrail.co.uk.

By taxi or bus

The 17 mile journey from Derby station to the Peveril of the Peak can be made by taxi or bus. Taxis cost approx £34 per journey – less if shared. There is a limited bus service from Derby, which requires a change of bus at Ashbourne – journey time approx 1½ hours.

From Buxton it is 19 miles to Peveril of the Peak. Taxis cost approx £38 per journey – less if shared. The same journey can also be made by bus – these run roughly every 2 hours and take around 40 minutes.

See www.traveline.org.uk for bus times. Buses from Ashbourne to Buxton stop by the Dog & Partridge pub, approximately 500 metres from the Peveril of the Peak.

By air

The nearest airports are at Manchester and East Midlands; however there are also train connections from other airports – see www.nationalrail.co.uk for details.

Manchester Airport has its own station. Take one of the regular trains to Manchester Piccadilly and change here for the connecting train to Buxton. Journey time to Buxton around 1½ hours.

East Midlands Airport is relatively near to Dovedale, but has poor public transport connections. It is easiest to take a taxi direct to the Peveril of the Peak.

From Heathrow Airport take the Underground to King’s Cross St Pancras station, then a mainline train to Derby. Journey time to Derby is around 3 hours.

From Gatwick Airport take a Thameslink train to King’s Cross St Pancras station in central London. Change here for a mainline train to Derby. Journey time to Derby around 3 hours.

From Luton Airport take the shuttle bus to Luton Airport Parkway station. From here there are trains to Derby (usually 1 change at Leicester). Journey time to Derby around 2½ hours.

By National Express coach

Coaches operate to Derby. Further information on National Express routes, times and prices is available at www.nationalexpress.co.uk. There is a discount available for our guests.
