Ölü Deniz

Ölü Deniz is a modern bespoke resort which draws tourists to its beach and turquoise lagoon. Off season it is relatively quiet and relaxed.

The nearest main centre is Fethiye, a genuine Turkish town with winding streets leading to bazaars, shops and many eating places. Although it lost many of its old buildings in the 1957 earthquake, you can still see the excavated remains of a Roman theatre built in the early Roman period and renovated in 200AD to hold 5,000 people. There is a bustling local market on Tuesday, full of regional products.

Local highlights

A private excursion to Dalyan including lunch and the services of an English speaking guide. Activities include mud baths, a boat trip to look for turtles, kingfishers and other wildlife, a visit to the ancient city at Kaunos and Turtle Beach with time for a swim. The return to Dalyan by boat provides magnificent views of the Lycian Coast
Rock tombs high in the cliffs
A day exploring Fethiye (which could include experiencing a traditional Turkish bath Haman) and then lunch in the fish market, where you can choose your own fish and have it cooked in one of the restaurants
A ‘Twelve Islands cruise’ around Fethiye Bay, which includes a fish lunch and plenty of opportunities to swim in secluded bays

Shops & Facilities

There are several grocery stores in Ölü Deniz which can be reached by taking one of the taxis which wait outside the hotel gates. Arrangements for buying lunch will be made during the week. There is also an ATM in Ölü Deniz and many facilities in Hirönasü and Fethiye.
