Whitesands Bay
Whitesands Bay is a lovely beach and makes a perfect place to end your walk.
St. David’s Cathedral
Building began in 1181 on the site where St David founded a monastery in the 6th century. The cathedral has been an important pilgrimage site for almost 14 centuries.
Strumble Head
This is a great place for watching migrating seabirds, especially in spring and autumn. It’s also a popular place for spotting porpoises. A little further east, Aber Felin Bay is particularly popular with grey seals. You can see as many as a dozen lounging about on a sunny day.
Fishguard
The new Town Hall centre houses the Last Invasion tapestry. It’s fascinating and free too.
This quaint old harbour at Fishguard was where Dylan Thomas’s ‘Under Milk Wood’ was filmed in 1971.
If you have time, stroll along to Fishguard Fort, complete with the cannons that fired on the French ships, forcing them to land their troops at Carregwastad.
Cemaes Head
The inaccessibility of the beaches here make this the ideal home for wildlife. Dozens of grey seals give birth to fluffy white pups on these beaches between September and November. Round the corner of Cemaes Head is a really good place for porpoise and dolphin watching.
