Holiday Itinerary

This holiday follows mainly quiet roads with some sections on dirt tracks. The terrain is predominantly flat with some hilly sections. Trains can be used to reduce distances if you choose.

Pisa to Florence RouteDay 1: Arrive in Pisa, located on the Arno River and home to the famous Leaning Tower and the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), all part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

Day 2: Follow the Serchio River and pedal across the Pisan countryside to the medieval city of Lucca. For those looking for a more demanding day there is a route which runs along the Monti Pisani (16 or 31 miles).

Day 3: Spend a free day exploring the palaces, churches and towers of the beautiful Tuscan city of Lucca or alternatively, enjoy a circular ride through the surrounding countryside (0 or 28 miles).

Day 4: Cycle along a panoramic route through the little village of Collodi, where the author of Pinnochio spent his childhood, and the town of Pescia and pay a visit to the famous Pinocchio's Park. End the day in Montecatini (22 miles).

Pisa to Florence GroupDay 5: Today you have the chance of exploring one of the most famous thermal towns in Italy or taking a circular ride through vineyards and olive groves past Vinci, Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace (0 or 36 miles).

Day 6: Take the train to Pistoia (payable locally) and then cycle through the Tuscan landscape to the beautiful city of Florence. Spend the rest of the day exploring Florence’s wonderful art and architecture (13 miles).

Pisa to Florence ItineraryDay 7: Travel by train to Empoli (payable locally) from where you will follow the river Arno to Pisa for your final evening (38 miles).

Day 8: Departure day.

 

 

 

Bicycles

You will be provided with a 7-gear unisex bicycle or a 21-gear bicycle. You will also be supplied with a handlebar bag, water bottle, pannier and repair kit.

Flexibility

This area of Tuscany is well served by the rail network, so trains can be used to reduce distances if you wish.
