Join one of our Discovery Tours and you will really get into the heart of the local countryside. These are sightseeing tours by minibus, enabling access to places not normally reached by a large coach. Excursions will take place on five days, leaving one free day to explore independently. We stop to look at views, explore villages and market towns and enjoy gentle strolls in the countryside. With our small groups and friendly leaders, this is a great way to enjoy Britain at its best.

Alltshellach is situated in one of the most spectacular locations in Britain, with grounds sloping down to Loch Leven and overlooked by the high peaks of the Glencoe range. Nearby are famous names such as Ben Nevis and Glenfinnan. Given the terrain the drives are inevitably longer than at some of our Country Houses in England. However, there are magnificent views, a feature throughout the week, and frequent chances to stop, have a longer look and maybe take a short, gentle walk in the company of your leader; we are sure these will enhance your enjoyment of your time in the Highlands.

• Glenfinnan Monument at the head of Loch Sheil, a place of inspiration for Bonnie Prince Charlie, and the dramatic atmosphere of Glencoe
• Spectacular Highland glens such as Glen Roy and Glen Shiel 
• Inverary, with plenty of time to explore, with its French-style castle, the Old Jail, now an exhibition centre dealing with crime and punishment through the ages, or the Maritime Museum and the Arctic Penguin, an old sailing ship 
• Stunning west coast scenery and the bustling port of Oban
• The magnificent setting of Eileen Donan Castle, situated on an island at the meeting point of three great sea lochs
