Day 1: Arrival day

For those arriving on the Munich flights, the onward journey to Weidach is by coach. You should arrive at the hotel with time to settle into your room, and perhaps explore the village. On the first evening your leaders will explain more about the walks and there will be plenty of time to meet with your fellow guests.

Day 2: The Leutasch Valley and villages

Today we explore the local area. The walks are a delightful introduction to this pretty region and a chance to enjoy the varied terrain and views on offer in the Ober and Unter Leutasch. We see Weidachsee, with its plentiful fish and fishermen, then carry on through the woodland which cloaks many of the hills. From here we emerge into the wide open valley around Platzl, moving on to Kirchplatzl and its pretty church. We continue down the valley with beautiful, flat green pastures on one side and the Wettersteinberge mountains looking down on us from the other side.

Easier Walk: 5¾ miles with up to 370 feet of ascent.

Harder Walk: 8 miles with up to 620 feet of ascent and descent.

Day 3: Gaistal Valley

The Leutascher Ache (river) flows through this wild, quiet valley, with the sharp, rocky peaks of the Wettersteinberge mountains on one side and the Meiminger mountains to the south. Both walks are circular, following the river and walking along the old hunting and riding trails, and visiting some of the typical alpine huts of the region. Magnificent scenery all day. A good chance of seeing deer.

Easier Walk: 5¼ miles with up to 490 feet of ascent

Harder Walk: 9½ miles with up to 1,200 feet of ascent

Day 4: Mosern and Moserer-See

Mosern is one of the five villages that make up the Olympiaregion Seefeld. It is known as the swallows nest and lies 600 metres above the Inn Valley, offering many wonderful viewpoint opportunities. Both walks start in Seefeld, offering us our first glimpse of the main village in the region, with its lovely churches, shops and hotels. The idyllic Moserersee offers a tranquil resting place. The walks offer some of the most interesting and beautiful aspects of the holiday. Upon reaching Mosern both walks have time to explore this fascinating village, with its Peace bell.

Easier Walk: 5 miles with up to 655 feet of ascent and 595 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 7 miles with up to 820 feet of ascent and 700 feet of descent

Day 5: Free day

Each week there is a free day when no guided walks are offered. This is an ideal opportunity to relax around the hotel, walk independently, or visit local places of interest.

  • If you would like to stay close to Weidach you may like to head to the village of Seefeld (short bus journey).Take time to wander around the many shops, restaurants and bars. An ideal place to buy souvenirs and gifts. From Seefeld you could take the funicular ride up the mountain to Rosshutte or a horse and carriage ride to local attractions.
  • In Seefeld there is the large indoor and open-air (heated) pool and leisure complex, tennis courts and the Wildmoos Plateau Golf Course.
  • In Weidach the Alpenbad is a short walk away with its modern leisure pool facilities. You can use the free mountain bikes from the hotel or have a Nordic Walking lesson from the hotel.
  • Mittenwald – this is an excellent place to visit with shops and cafés and a cable car to the mountain top. Known for house paintings and its violin museum. You can get a direct bus from Weidach with an additional €1.90 to the bus pass.
  • A little further afield, Innsbruck is an attractive, compact city with its famous ‘Golden Roof’ and beautiful, historic buildings. It offers excellent shopping and a wide selection of restaurants. Travel to the city would be via the excellent railway service, with its breathtaking views.

Day 6: The Leutasch Spirit Gorge

We head to the German border, towards Mittenwald, to walk in the Unter-Leutasch Valley. Both walks gradually descend the valley with a very easy gradient, passing by many of the small hamlets, with their flower-decked chalets. We cross flower-filled meadows never far from the Leutascher Ache and finish at the spectacular gorge. This relatively new attraction in the area (completed in 2007) consists partly of an 800-metre-long man-made section of metal walkways, with the river far below in the gorge. An engineering feat in itself and a breath-taking experience.

Easier Walk: 5¼ miles with minimal ascent and 155 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 9½ miles with minimal ascent and 837 feet of descent

Day 7: The Wildmoos Plateau and Wildmoosalm

Our final walks of the week explore the high plateau of Wildmoos, with the beautiful lakes of Lotten-see and Wildmoos-see taking centre stage, a tranquil, peaceful setting, and a popular outing for many visitors to the Seefeld region. On arriving at Ropferstub’m we will be overwhelmed by the view along the Inn Valley where we can enjoy refreshments and possibly visit the farming museum. We finish at the Wildmoosalm Hut, famous for its schnapps fountain and apple strudel. Here, we can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the hospitality of a typical Tyrolean hut for the remaining afternoon, before we return to Weidach.

Easier Walk: 5¼ miles with up to 750 feet of ascent and 900 feet of descent

Harder Walk: 8¼ miles with up to 1,140 feet of ascent and 500 feet of descent
