Holiday Itinerary

This holiday follows a mixture of flat plains and undulating countryside. The tour uses minor roads, gravel paths and grass tracks with some short stretches on main roads, and short climbs in the vineyard areas.

Slovenian Vineyards Cycling Group Day 1: Arrival in Maribor, Slovenia’s second largest city. A representative will welcome you with a drink and provide you with your itinerary and maps for the trip.

Day 2:  Follow the route of the Drava River as you cycle to Ptuj. Visit Ptuj Castle and explore the museums, churches and monasteries. Ptuj Wine Cellar is also well worth a visit. We recommend you try the Traminec white wine, although not too much, another five days cycling awaits you! (20 miles)

Slovenian Vineyards River ADay 3: Pass small villages and baroque castles as you cycle along flat plains. Your accommodation in Jeruzalem is set among vineyards with stunning views and the opportunity for wine-tasting (27 miles).

Day 4: Cycle through rolling countryside to Moravske Toplice, stopping to visit the floating mill of Veržej and a pottery workshop. In the evening relax in the hotel’s thermal springs (28 or 31 miles).

Slovenian Vineyards Cathedral ADay 5: A relaxing day with the option to unwind at the hotel or take an easy cycle ride to the Hungarian border and visit a typical market in the border town of Lenti (32 miles).

Day 6: Start the day with leisurely flat cycling and on through gently rolling landscapes to your country inn at Lenart. Today’s route involves crossing the River Mura on an old-fashioned float (26 miles).
