Pink and purple heather on ExmoorHolnicote House is leased from the National Trust and sits within a 12,500-acre estate extending towards Selworthy Beacon. This historic property has peaceful gardens and extensive lawns, along with an outdoor heated swimming pool.

Holnicote House is located on Exmoor National Park, just a few miles from the North Somerset coast. Superb walks are available right on the doorstep.

Porlock village is about 2 miles to the west. Here you’ll find a small supermarket, post office and pubs. A wider range of shops and facilities are available in Minehead, the nearest small town, about 4 miles away.

Minehead

Minehead is an attractive seaside town with a popular beach. Day visits to the Butlins resort are possible, and may be attractive for families.

West Somerset railway

Travel on Britain’s longest steam railway from Minehead to Bishops Lydyard, a delightful reminder of the glory days of the Great Western Railway.

Dunster

A medieval village with a castle (National Trust), yarn market, cobbled pavements, delightful shops, cafés & pubs. There are special events at the castle and grounds throughout the year.

Cliff railway at LyntonLynton & Lynmouth

The quaint Victorian town of Lynton sits high on a hill, overlooking the coast and Lynmouth harbour. The two settlements are connected by the historic cliff railway.

Hestercombe Gardens

Located near Taunton, the formal gardens at Hestercombe are much admired.

Arlington Court

Managed by the National Trust, Arlington Court is a fine Regency House that is also home to the Trust’s carriage museum.

Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre

This interactive activity centre at Allerford offers horse riding, birds of prey and alpaca walks – something for all the family.

Jeep Safari

Discover Exmoor National Park in a specially designed Land Rover Defender. The itinerary mixes places of interest and historic sites, as well as viewing wildlife and the stunning scenery of Exmoor. 

Porlock Weir Marine Aquarium

The aquarium has been set up to show what lives in our waters and on the shoreline of the Bristol Channel. A very interactive experience.

Dark Sky Reserve

The night sky above Exmoor has been awarded a special protection status making it Europe's first International Dark Sky Reserve. The status means the night sky is protected and lighting controls are in place to prevent light pollution. So bring your telescope along and enjoy the wonders of the universe from Holnicote House.
