Abingworth Hall is located  in  the  peaceful  Sussex  countryside,  at  the  foot  of  the  South  Downs, the newest of England’s National Parks.

Storrington  is  the  nearest  village,  which  has  banks,  a  post  office,  a  small  supermarket,  pharmacies,  tea  rooms  and  gallery-type  shops  in  which  to  while  away  the  time.

There  are  many  famous  country  houses  and  castles  to  visit  and  some  outstanding  gardens, along with some beautiful towns and villages to explore.  For race lovers, Goodwood, Fontwell and Brighton racecourses are all within easy reach.

The cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton has an excellent range of specialist shops, entertainment, and its famous beach. You may also enjoy a visit to the Royal Pavilion, built in the early 19th century by George IV.


Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre

Just a few miles from Abingworth Hall, this 36 acre open-air museum tells the industrial story of Sussex and the Downs, and is home to many traditional craftspeople.  There is also a steam railway, vintage buses and restored quarry machinery.

The quaint town of Arundel is dominated by its castle, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk.

Chichester

The historic cathedral city of Chichester has plenty of places of interest.  Just a couple of miles away is the fascinating Fishbourne Roman Palace.

Weald & Downland Museum

Located on the Downs, near the village of Singleton, this excellent open-air museum contains many restored buildings that bring the history of Sussex to life.

National Trust Properties

Completely restored after an extensive fire, Uppark House is a stately property with ornate rooms and gardens. Parham House, situated on the  outskirts of Storrington, has gardens that are worthy of a visit in themselves. Petworth House is a 17th century house with vast gardens and a deer park, landscaped by 'Capability' Brown.

In addition, why not visit Pallant House in the centre of Chichester,  Nymans near Horsham, Sheffield Park or Standen.
