Arriving by car

Depending on where you are staying, it may be possible to leave your car at the guesthouse/hotel at the start or the end of the trail. Please enquire. Directions to your guesthouse are included in your information leaflet.

Arriving by train

The station is in the centre of Milngavie and connects directly with services from Glasgow. From the station you can either take a taxi or walk to your accommodation. It is recommended that you call for a taxi in advance of your arrival at Milngavie, as there are usually no taxis waiting outside the station. Taxi companies are recommended in your information leaflet.

Returning by train

The station is in the centre of Fort William with trains direct to Glasgow. This is around a 10 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi journey from your accommodation. We recommended that you book a taxi in advance. Taxi companies are recommended in your information leaflet. If you have left your car at Milngavie there is a train service that travels direct from both Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street stations and takes about 25 minutes.

Returning by bus

Monday to Friday

From Fort William you can take a bus direct to Glasgow. The journey takes approximately 3 hours. Once in Glasgow you change and board a bus to Milngavie. This bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes. For further details are included in your information pack. Alternatively, please contact Traveline. www.traveline.org.

Saturday & Sunday

Services are limited over the weekends, so we recommend that you contact Traveline for up-to-date details and timetables.

By air

There are a number of low-cost flights from around the UK to Glasgow – see www.easyjet.com, www.ryanair.com or www.ba.com. If you are flying from overseas there are some international flights to Glasgow. Alternatively fly to Manchester or London and complete your journey by train.

From Glasgow International Airport (GLA) take the regular airport bus to Glasgow Central station (journey time 30 mins), then on by train to Milngavie - see www.glasgowairport.com. Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) has its own railway station with trains every 30 minutes to Glasgow Central, taking 45 minutes – see www.gpia.co.uk.
