Print travel information

By train:

As this holiday starts and finishes in different places, travelling by train is usually the most convenient method of travel. For further information and train times visit www.nationalrail.co.uk.

Arrival:

There are trains to Glasgow Central from around the UK which take around 5½ hours from London and 4 hours from Manchester.

Milngavie is the final station on a branch line which has a very regular service (at least every 30 minutes) from both Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street. Journey time from Glasgow is approximately 25 minutes.

Departure:

The last 4 nights are spent at Alltshellach, our Country House on the shores of Loch Leven. On the last morning a coach leaves the hotel at 8.30am to Glasgow. The transfer takes approximately 3 hours and can take you to either Glasgow Airport (arriving around 11.30am) or Buchanan Street bus station (arriving around 12noon). You are advised not to arrange any flights before 1:30pm. Please contact us if you would like to reserve a place on this transfer. This is not included in the price of your holiday.

Travel by air:

There are a number of low-cost flights from around the UK to Glasgow – see www.easyjet.com, www.ryanair.com or www.ba.com. If you are flying from overseas there are some international flights to Glasgow. Alternatively fly to Manchester or London and complete your journey by train.

From Glasgow International Airport (GLA) take the regular airport bus to Glasgow Central station (journey time 30 mins), then on by train to Milngavie - see www.glasgowairport.com. Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) has its own railway station with trains every 30 minutes, taking 45 minutes to Glasgow Central – see www.gpia.co.uk.
