HF Holidays is the UK's largest walking and leisure activity holidays company, offering guided walking holidays at all levels and for all abilities as well as independent trails throughout the UK, Europe and Worldwide. Leisure activity holidays feature over 200 interests such as painting, dancing or photography in the UK and Europe, and we also offer cycling holidays.
HF Holidays is a member-focused organisation which is structured as a consumer co-operative, with all of its profits ploughed back into the society.
The society has banking arrangements with Handelsbanken and does not bank with the Co-operative Bank.
The Board of Directors of HF Holidays is elected by members and governs the society and its values on behalf of the members of the society. The Board would like to emphasise that HF Holidays has no political affiliations, and we take great care to maintain this independence and welcome all members regardless of politics.
Founded in 1913, HF Holidays is a co-operative society arranging holidays for 50,000 people each year (for non-members a £5 associate fee is payable per holiday). We were voted Best Large Tour Operator by Guardian and Observer readers in 2010 and 2011, with a 2011 satisfaction score of 98%. We were also voted Best Short Break Operator in 2011.
In Britain, HF Holidays operates its wide range of active, sociable outdoor holidays from Country Houses spread across England, Scotland and Wales. We are the recommended walking holiday partner of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity (www.ramblers.org.uk), and supports the work of the Ramblers through membership initiatives and charitable donations.
HF Holidays is also a National Trust’s Activity Holidays Collection Partner, is a leading member of the Outdoor Industries Association and a business supporter of the Countryside Management Association, John Muir Trust and British Mountaineering Council.
We are committed to Responsible Tourism, contributing to environmental projects around the UK – such as footpath maintenance – through our Pathways Fund and supporting local Air Ambulance and Mountain Rescue teams, as well as charities in Kenya and South Africa.
The company is a member of ABTOT and is ATOL protected.

HF Holidays owns or leases and manages 19 Country Houses around the UK (15 in England, 3 in Wales and 1 in Scotland) which provide the base for most of the company's walking and leisure activity holidays. They are located in prime walking areas and mostly in National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB’s) with best walking on the doorstep.
All Country Houses have facilities such as heated boot-rooms and many offer indoor or outdoor swimming pools, multiple lounges and reading rooms, ballrooms or Jacuzzi spas. Two properties, Holnicote House and Monk Coniston, have been managed by HF Holidays on a long-term lease from the National Trust for over 50 years. The latest addition to the properties we lease from the National Trust is Craflwyn Hall at Beddgelert.
If you wish to visit one of HF Holidays' Country Houses, a facility visit can be arranged.
In the UK, walking and leisure activity holidays are operated in the company's Country Houses.

An exciting range of cycling, and cycling and river cruising holidays is also on offer for those who prefer to pedal instead of walk. Both guided and independent cycling holidays are available.
HF Holidays’ panel of over 900 volunteer walks leaders is what makes the HF Holidays’ experience unique. Our leaders are passionate about walking and keen to share their experience with guests (after passing a rigorous selection course). Due to continuing expansion of its holiday programmes, HF Holidays invites experienced walkers and ramblers to join the team of dedicated volunteer leaders.
