Mind & Body
People who recognise the value of investing a little time
in themselves to improve their wellbeing will also recognise
the value of a peaceful location in which to do so. HF Holiday's
quiet, character Country Houses, all with settings or views
which are a balm to the soul, offer a range of breaks and
holidays to improve both body and mind.
Holidays including Yoga, T'ai Chi, Pilates and Meditation
usually run with morning workshops, afternoons free (some
holidays have optional guided walks) or more workshops in
the late afternoon. Evenings are usually left free for socialising,
and our whole set up is a friendly one. We own our Country
Houses so run other activities at the same time (bring a friend
with different interests if you like!) and engineer a uniquely
social atmosphere.
Many find the get away from it all experience, in lovely
surroundings with good, healthy food, one of fun, reward
and achievement in equal measure.
Our prices hide nothing and represent remarkable value for
money - you don't need to spend anything other than when you
are out and about independently.

| Alexander Technique |
 |
The Alexander Technique teaches balance,
support, co-ordination and how to move, sit, lie
or stand with the minimum of strain on our
bodies. Each morning will consist of a group
session, with demonstrations and instruction,
followed by a free afternoon where you can
immediately start to practice! Evenings are a mix
of further instruction (eg a video on the
Technique) and opportunities to socialise.

| Relax
through Yoga |
 |
How do you relax? Feet up, coffee and Classic FM? Take the
dog for a walk? Discover a different level of consciousness
through yoga and change your life; regular practice will make
your body more supple and flexible, your mind calmer and it
will improve your concentration. We offer a yoga session each
morning of about 2 to 2½ hours, covering postures (asanas),
breathing techniques (pranayama) and relaxation, with a long
coffee break. Afternoons are free, then we meet again for
an hour or so before dinner for a further session. In the
evenings there is the opportunity to mix socially with other
guests.

| Yoga
and Circle Dance |
 |
There's a synergy between these two activities that should
leave you revitalised at the end of your stay. Each morning
and late afternoon we will practice postures (asanas), breathing
exercises (pranayama) and relaxation to transport us away
from any stresses and strains we may have brought with us.
In the afternoons and evenings you will experience dances
from many countries and folk cultures, and as long as you
have a vague sense of rhythm and a liking for traditional
music you can't go wrong. Dances can be a mix of lively and
stimulating as well as slow and meditative.

| Anyone
can Meditate |
 |
Slow down, chill out, be at peace! ... whichever way you
put it, there is no getting away from the fact that one of
the best ways to get to know yourself is through the art of
meditation. We will practice relaxation, breathing techniques
and meditation using different senses to benefit us physically,
emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Full morning sessions
are complemented by a shorter session in the late afternoon.

T'ai Chi |
 |
T'ai Chi is a Chinese practice for health and wellbeing involving
slow, flowing movement, which encourages quietness, awareness
and relaxation. It promotes balance, stability and flexibility
physically, mentally and emotionally and releases new vitality
into the system. Full morning, late afternoon and evening
sessions include simple exercises, which build into the flowing
sequences of movement which can then be practised at home.
Some partner exercises are also used to help develop balance
and security and also sensitivity. There's free time in the
afternoons.

| Pilates
Technique |
 |
Pilates corrects posture, strengthens abdominals, reduces
stress both physically and mentally, manages back pain and
is an enjoyable group exercise experience. Your body will
look longer and you will be leaner, and it's an altogether
fun way of exercising for life. This is an excellent
way to become familiar with the basics, or to improve your
current strength if you already practice the technique.
