This week sees the first guests staying in the new rooms at Glen Coe, Western Highlands. The West Wing of Glen Coe has opened its 16 new rooms and pictures of these can be seen below. The rooms have a fresh, modern look about them ensuring a relaxing and comfortable night's rest after a day's walking in the stunning Scottish Landscape.
Although the weather was not at its best, the Southeast's biggest charity walk was a huge success and has once again broken all records.
5,722 walkers from all over the UK took part in the walk, which spans the entire island, to raise money for the hospice and enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way. This included two stilt walkers, who completed the 26.5-mile walk in 8 hours and 40 minutes, and will hopeful enter the Guinness Book of Records, if approved.
A further 1,329 children from 51 schools also took part, and walked the remaining 4 miles from Freshwater Bay to the finish at Alum Bay.
The final checkpoint of the walk was staged at HF Holidays’ Country House accommodation at Freshwater Bay and we would like to thank the members of staff and leaders who stood in the rain handing out water and refreshments.
A special mention goes to Brian Smith, HF Holidays’ Chief Executive, who walked from Carisbrooke to Freshwater Bay with Mr & Mrs Siviter, from our Board of Directors.
Our many congratulations to all whose who took part and completed their walk, in the face of such poor conditions.
As the country's biggest walking holidays company, we have, for the past 4 years, sponsored this great event and we are already looking forward to next year's walk.
