The overwhelming success in British cycling this year has seen a boost in all sectors of the UK cycling industry from the retail of bicycles through to our own increased sales of cycling holidays this year. Halfords Group PLC have reported a 14.7% increase in profits on the same period last year in the three months leading up to 28 September commenting that the surge in sales is directly attributed to the sale of bikes. This trend is also echoed in an LSE report commissioned by Sky which found that 52% of all respondents commented that the success in British cycling had motivated them to get out and about on a bike. The report also found that a proportion of seven in ten non-cyclists of the 1,000 people who participated in the study believe that there will be a lasting positive effect upon cycling as a result of the success this summer.
2013 certainly looks set to be a great year for cycling!
